Default New to the forum and to jaguar

Hi all my name is darren talbot, from southampton, uk, always been into cars and bikes, and always loved jaguars.

2 years ago i went through a divorce, and things got very messy ended up going bankrupt, lost my hose, my mini cooper s etc.
However things now are great, met a amazing new lady whom will be my wife may next year, and i am 99% back on my feet.

The last obsticale was to get myself a new car, and last week i put a deposit on a 2002 S type Sport 4.0 v8 in pacific blue.

However this past week has been a little bit of a nightmere and id love some opinions, the car didnt have a mot on it and the garage agreed to tax it and mot it for me a process which should only take 1-2 days, well 9 days later the S type is till in the garage and it is having new rear discs and pads, a new rear caliper and 2 new rear tie rod ends, is this car going to give me major problems when i finally take delivery?

Look forward to interacting with everybody

Darren

Welcome to the forum Darren,

An eventful two years - not surprised you're looking for an uncomplicated time with the S-Type.

Sounds like the garage is fixing everything required to bring it up to MoT standard so it ought to be OK. I assume they are picking up the bill?

Follow this link S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the S-Type section for help, advice and information. If you have specific concerns on what is being done to your S-Type, thi is the place to post tech questions.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK Region section by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.

Hope the deal goes through OK.

Enjoy the forum.

Hey graham thanks for the reply,

yeah garage is picking up the bill dont think they are too impressed,
Is there a section on here with common faults? i suppose these things can happen to any second hand car. I am looking forward to enjoy the big cat though with the cats suspension as well

Darren,

That's a large dent in their profit on the deal.

For common issues, check this link:

https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...-guides-41364/

There's plenty more useful information in the HOW TO section at the top of the S-Type threads.

Hi Darren,

Still covered for everything by the garage?

When you're talking to them, could be a good plan to ask them for any DTC error codes they've found (ask for the codes and not just the descriptions).

Provided they haven't been cleared recently, the codes can tell you a lot about the health of the car.

If you do get the info, post the codes in the S-Type section and the guys there will be able to explain exactly what they mean.

Graham
