Hello fellow Jag lovers: As a retirement present to myself, I found and purchased my XK on the internet, then flew from Dallas to Santa Barbara with my wife to pick it up and drive it home.
I didn't care much for the scoops and vents on the XKR model, and at my age, certainly didn't need 400 hp and a rock-hard suspension. I took several months looking for the perfect XK with all the goodies, including a couple of hard-to-find options: chrome 19" wheels with run-flat tires, and dynamic cruise control.
Finally, I discovered a new left-over 2008 model that was at the dealership and still on the showroom floor. It was Easter week in 2009 when I took my first drive in it: up the coast of California on Highway 1 to Carmel, then on to San Francisco to visit my daughter. We headed for Denver and hit a blinding snowstorm approaching Salt Lake City, learning that the dynamic cruise won't work with the sensor plugged with snow. What an experience!
I've made a few changes to personalize the car: replaced the black grill panels with chrome mesh and eliminated the front emblem, replaced the body-color side vents with chrome units, replaced the wheel-hub trim with old-style growler emblems on a red background, tinted the windows, added few wood-grain panels to the interior (the full wood-grain kit was too much), put in an I-pod connection, and added a Lo-jack system and radar/laser detection.
At a rod & custom show last weekend, I talked to a really creative pinstripe specialist who said he could add some tasteful accents to the car. I'd love to do that, but am not sure if the XK body needs anything.
Sorry for bragging about my car so much, but I have lusted after a Jaguar since I was a kid. I'm treating like a baby and have not yet reached 10,000 miles.

Thanks for reposting my first ever post on this forum. I am turning 82 this year, and my '08 XK is moving out of the house. However, with only 26K on the odometer, it will become a 60th birthday gift for my daughter. She's pretty jazzed about it. It has been garaged since new and has been trouble-free since new. 16 years old with 26K miles. Custom interior still looks new. Moving my license plate to the garage wall. A hug from my daughter, the new owner.
