Hey folks

Just joined as I just bought a 2000 XK8. Your forum looks great. I have been a car junkie all my life, ranging from Vettes to Hummers, to old MB convertibles and on to 70's muscle cars. Thank you for allowing me to join.

So I loved my Vette convertible but got a great deal on a Hummer H2 so crazy as it sounds I did a 180 and bought a hummer. But after two years I missed having a convertible and just bought a very, very nice looking 2000 XK8 convertible.

I've always been afraid of 97-03 XKs for years because of the common or somewhat common "plastic chain tensioner" failure. I mean the tensioners are relatively cheap but labor costs are a B@!@#., so I'm taking a chance.

I I'd like to find a good Jag mechanic in Cape Coral/Ft. Myers Fl. area if anyone has any advice, for future maintenance needs.

It'll be a great ride, and hopefully relatively inexpensive.

Thanks for allowing me to join. Looking at previous posts it seems you folks are very helpful and super friendly.

I think my name on this site is VetteJagHummer but I did it quick and didn't right it down.

Cheers! Kevin.

Modern life is full of logins and passwords. And you're not supposed to use duplicates and you're supposed to change them every few weeks for security. I suggest you get an encrypted password keeper app on your phone and put everything in it. Make a habit to create your login and password in the app first, then enter it into whatever website registration page you're filling out. That way you can't forget, you've got a strong, secure password and you have them with you wherever you are, whenever you need them. Most apps upload the encrypted file up into cloud storage, but if you don't trust that, there are some that just keep an encrypted file on the phone and you can back it up on your own periodically. I mirror mine to a second smartphone. I just looked and between work and personal, I have 170 different logins. No way I could ever remember more than two or three of them. Heck, I even have a password for my daily driver so I can start it remotely from my phone and have it all warmed up or cooled down by the time I walk out from my office. It can be a bit finicky sometimes tho when cell or wifi signals are weak. Eventually we're all going to have to log in to even drive a new car. Luckily my 1969 Corvette and a few other old cars in the collection pre-date the internet era. Welcome aboard.
