New Guy MD/PA
Hey,
Just saying hello. I'm a certified car freak with more vehicles than I'd care to admit. I've always admired Jags as the sexiest cars on the road, but have previously avoided them due to their reputation for reliability. Recently, a rather drastic change in my life has made my little Porsches less than ideal for my needs. While I'm keeping the Porsches, (it's a sickness)I decided that it is time to pull the trigger on a Jag.
I found this well cared for 49,000 mile XJR in South Jersey. Thus far I am thrilled with my decision. I travel from Annapolis Maryland to Bucks County Pennsylvania and back every weekend. I was looking for a good sized road car with excellent handling andplenty of performance. Well...I found it.
Now for my first question...I'm not loving the chrome XK wheels that are currently on the car. I've looked everywhere for aftermarket rims, but have had very little success. I'm interested in something a little more stealth, like a black (or dark) mesh with a polished lip. Can anyone point this Jaguar rookie in the right direction?
Thanks for having me.

Philly born and raised. How about them Phils?
Thanks for the tip on Eurotoys. Never heard of him before, but he has a set of wheels that I think will be perfect. I'll call him tomorrow.
On my wheels...you're welcome to them, but the chrome is beginning to fail. They're presentable, but not great.

Phillies rock (fan from Gene Mauch days). The Eagles look great from a distance but when you take a closer look, especially after a few years, they start to look like crap. Like chrome plated wheels.
Glad Mike's wheels are the ticket, he's a good guy and specializes in XJR. I'll gladly work out a deal for the old ones with you if you swap them out, even if they are appeeling.

Thanks for the warm welcome.
The picture I posted was actually taken by the seller. I haven't taken any of my own yet, but I do have a couple of interior shots, etc if you want to see them.
I'd be happy to show off some of my other junk, but I'm having a little trouble posting (and even seeing) pics. I've tried copying the img code from Photobucket and that didn't seem to work. In addition, almost all of the pictures on the site appear as the dreaded red x to me...even my own thumbnail. If anyone can clue me in to what I'm doing wrong, that would be great.

Bigcat hell, you should name yourself after the country band and use Big'nRich !!
I must regrettably inform you that your MG Midget has earned a deduction of .01 point for spurious parts fitment. The factory ignition leads were orange, not red. That said, yours is the nicest Midget I have seen since the last one I performed a new-car prep on in 1977. Bone stock and 99.99, nice work. But those krautcans, ugh,Porches give me a rash.

Big n Rich? Hardly.Fat n Stupid is more like it.
Krautcans! That's hysterical. Hope you don't mind if I steal it.
I'm told the ignition leads on the MG are correct. I wish they weren't because they're pink. I changed them once to a Lucas replacement set. They were dark green and we suffered a deduction as a result. I found that car on its way to the crusher and restored it for my wife for Christmas around '92 or '93. I have a bad habit ofsaving the unsavable. In addition to the 912 I'm working on, I'm also doing two 1938 Gilbarco gas pumps, two Honda CB 360Ts a '65 Mustang Fastback and my brother and I are working on a '70 Ranchero.
I tried to include some pictures of the fastback so you could see how completely devoid of logic I am when it comes to saving these old cars, but Photobucket is not cooperating. I'll try it again later. Suffice it to say, it's not pretty.
