Default New Jag owner from Iowa

Hello all, first time Jaguar owner here. I purchased a 1998 XJ8 VDP with fairly mild crash damage, the plan is to repair, rehab and repaint it to be my daily driver.

Lurking on the site for the past month has given me invaluable advice already, especially about being able to easily access the fuel tank from the trunk for draining. This car was damaged during an ice storm in Nov 2013, and had been parked outside in one spot since then. The fuel cap well drain was plugged, allowing about two gallons of water to contaminate the fuel tank. After being filled with fresh fuel, it started and ran well enough to be driven the three hours home.

Welcome to the forum Samilcar,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Doesn't look too difficult a repair. I hope you got a good deal.

It sounds like you've already found your way to the X308 tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the USA Mid West Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-mid-west-il-ia-mi-mn-mo-oh-wi-39/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
