New Kind on the Block
Hello Everyone:
Just purchased a 2002 X Type with 61,000 miles on it. I will use it as my get around town and to the golf course car. Previous car was a 2000 BMW 3 series and I had to get rid of it because just about every three months something went wrong with it. Over the course of 2.5 years this is what did on the BMW. New Brakes, about 4 coils, two window regulators, two speed sensors, new instrument cluster, new oxygen sensor, DCS issues, replace air bag and on and on and on.....I spent more repairing the car than I did to buy it. My Mechanic, Zelko from Croatia loved the car and you can see why.
So I bought the Jag from Zelko who bought it from another of his customers. He just redid the transmission.
I love how the car rides and the four wheel drive will be much appreciated after driving that 3 series in the snow. The BMW acted more like a sled than a car.
I am looking to redo the audio myself. I am kind of handy and redid the radio on the BMW. Jag came with premium audio and about half of the speakers work. I have been reading up on this and will just by pass the factory amp. Does anyone have information as to how to run the new speaker wires from the door to the front of the car? Also, any recommendations for replacement speaker (Is would spend about $150 per pair) and a good head unit (up to $350) would be greatly appreciated. I read that you have to be careful about the depth of the speakers and that if there are connections at the top of a double din headunit, it might bump into a fan in the dashboard. Not going to replace the sub woffer or amp just yet. Probably will rely on Crutchfield.
Thanks.
