Its my second X-type, as if I hadn't learned from my mistakes. But I still love it.
The first one just gave me a lot of problems - gearbox faults constantly happened leaving me in gear 2, ran way too rich on gas, bent rims, constantly seizing hood and boot(maybe because of the extreme cold), the check engine light kept coming on, ABS light would not turn off, nor did the system work, cruise control did not work the few times the car actually decided to run properly, Bent the aluminium rims a couple times (once my fault, the other time was just an unavoidable rail road).

Although, not to put that all on the car. I did not get it fixed - mainly because I couldn't (no dealers or shops willing to work on it where I am [Small Town Problems]). And when I would finally find someone to work on the car, they charge an arm and a leg to do things that would other wise be cheap on other cars. But I learned from it.

But after trading it in for a newer SUV, I found my self missing my old car. So I went out and got another X type.

So far this one is running a lot better than the last one. Not as many problems. So far, the back speakers stopped working (will fix when the weather gets a little nicer) and the radiator fan stopped working and the coolant overflow tank had a piece snap off it and spray coolant, overheating my car. But this time - I decided what's the worst that can happen..

I'll fix it my self (with some help from a very resourceful friend). The coolant overflow tank split on me and left my car basically not drivable to my knowledge.

So after a really painstaking day of blistering and walking and carrying obscene amounts of weights we found our selves back at my car in the midst of the night. We looked at the engine and took off a bolt from a piece where the hood would rest on each side of the engine and stuffed one in the opening of the pipe and one in the hole left in the coolant tank sealing it off well enough to hold coolant and letting me quickly get it back to a safe spot to work on it.

The following morning we replace the coolant tank and find out the fan doesn't work either - but I drove 5 hours back home in the morning without it over heating.

I am undertaking the repairs by my self, I feel like this is going to be an interesting learning experience for me and would probably be a good start to a hobby I've wanted to start for some time now (working on cars).

Regardless of the problems I had, I still love my car. Its just the right size for me and fits my age rather well compared to the other models like the S type.

I absolutely love the way it looks on the outside. One thing that I have to say, is the Jag dealer I went to before were super nice people, not to say my most recent visit was unpleasant, it was just at a different dealer due to my restricted transportation at the time.

They really have their customer service working for them - we have a few cars that I usually am tasked with getting serviced, and I have yet to get that kind of service anywhere else.

Welcome! Post some pics when you can, and let us know where you are. Judging by the extreme cold remark, you're not near me. Ontario?

Hi and welcome form another Canadian. I was wondering the same thing as avt007- where in Canada are you?

Nice to hear some positive things about your dealer- might want to mention their name too.
