Hello all:
I am very excited to be a member of this forum, having recently purchased my very first Jaguar for restoration. Up until this juncture, I have restored a 1969 GTO Judge, a 1978 Ford F150, a 1989 BMW 535i Eurospec, a 1992 BMW 525i, a 1995 BMW 740i, a 1997 BMW 540i, a 2000 BMW 740i (all of which I have in my stable), and I just bought a 1984 Jaguar XJ6 Sovereign with 71,000 original kms on it (yes, kms...not miles...we are in Canada). I have never restored an English car before, and already I can see some challenges with respect to Lucas wiring.
Thus far, I have completely gutted the interior, dropped the rear end out of her (love the rear brakes), replaced all of the fuel lines, brake lines, calipers, fuel tanks, fuel pump, and we are working on a few minor rust issues, likely in common areas, such as the front floor pans and passenger rocker panel near the front fender.
I have never actually driven a Jaguar, but I have heard great things about their ride. I am anxious to see how it stacks up against BMW.
I am sure I will be picking a few brains if I get stuck in some areas, and its great to know there are so many Jag lovers at my finger tips should I run into issues.
Looking forward to putting a Jag back on the tarmac after being in a barn for 15 years!
