Greetings. I must start off by expressing how helpful this forum has been since I purchased my '97 XK8 three weeks ago. Based on the information/advice in the various threads, I had the informed confidence to make the purchase.
About the car: 1997 XK8, 83,000 miles, blue with tan interior. Runs/drives/shifts very well. It has a flood salvage title, but the only water damage I can find is the interior itself. My guess is it got caught in a storm with the top down. No water ring anywhere, no mud or debris, no rust or corrosion anywhere except the rear seat floorpan (superficial). Getting it inspected and licensed this week. I have some information requests to make, but will post new threads for those. Wish me luck !!!

That's some risk you took, I hope you got the car for a song. Welcome to jaguar ownership!

Thanks for the well wishes. I'd like to think a carefully calculated risk, but we'll see !! I gave $3700 for it.

As long as your thinking as you go into it scorch, you'll be fine. Keep a small nestegg for repairs ready, just in case.

Our cars are very sensitive to moisture, especially in the engine department, I truly hope you don't experience long term affects from it.

Welcome Scorch, interesting handle for a wet car. Hope it works out OK, that's the sort of thing I would do.

Why not whip off the door panels and rear seat base. That should give you a pretty good idea about the depth (if any).

You have of course changed the oil etc.
