Hello, my name is Amanda. I'm a new member. I was wondering if I may get some advice. I have a 2000 jaguar vanden plas xj8. It popped up with transmission fault and is in limp mode. Husband checked tranny fluid and it looked to be full. Does anyone have any advice? On what to do. I used a diagnostic computer and the codes I got where p1000 p1646 and p1722. Dont know if those have anything to do with the Tranny or not. Please help. Love this car. 112,000miles on her. Just got it a few months ago. Got the oil changed right before this started.

Welcome to the Forums.

There is quite a discussion in the XJ8/XJR (X308) Tech Section about this transmission fault.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Amanda,

Good to have you with us.

P1000 is a STATUS and not an ERROR. It indicates all OnBoard monitoring tests have not been completed since the last memory clear. You will always see either this or P1111 once the tests are complete. Here's the extract from the Jaguar lookup showing possible causes for P1646 and P1722:

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj8-xjr-x308-27/ to the X308 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
