Hi burza, welcome to the forum, very low miles you have there.

Are you a long standing owner or is this a new acquisition?

Welcome, you have a low mileage but make sure your timing chain is replaced because as far as I am concerned if you still carry plastic tensioners they will eventually break and will cost you dearly

Hello burza & welcome. GO BUCKEYES!! I grew up in Columbus on the south side of town near Scioto Downs, used to be corn fields. I have a 99xj8 and love it. There's a great tech on this site with a shop in Powell. His name escapes me now though. Keep an eye out on thread postings. He would be a good source for anything you may not be able to handle.

Enjoy,
Ralph

This is my new aquisition and I am a "virgin" Jaguar owner, I owned MB 450SL in the past and Infinity G35X recently.
Yes, I am aware of the timing chain issues from the posts, and I plan to get it rectified very soon. All the dealer service records do not show any work done on the timing chains. The same dealer did all maintenance and service work on it, so this is accurate information.
To the others: thank you for a tip about good Jaguar mechanic in Powell Ohio, not far from where I live.
As soon as I am allowed to post pictures of my beast I will do so.

I also am a new member with a 2001 XK8 with 55,000 miles. I do not believe the timing chains have been done, but there is no tell tale rattle on cold starts. Do i have to do the timing chains anyway? do i wait until 60K miles? or just wait for them to be noisy. I understand it costs around $1800 to do this job, any advice is gratefully recieved, thanks, David

Go BUCKEYES!!!! REA, I think JagthechOhio is the tech's forum name.
I would like to get his shop name in Powell Ohio. I need to to replace original (plastic) chain tensioners. How do I go about it?
I have tried looking up under the info properties under this name, but perhaps I am too new to the forums and was advised I am not allowed to do so.

Hey Burza. Cyril here. Andy Is Jagtechohio. He calls his shop British Auto Care. He is in Powell. He's the only mechanic that touches my cat. He's reasonably and very knowable. With that said, he's also very busy. but if you can get your car in I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Thank you very much Cyril I will get hold of Andy and discuss the tensioners replacement with him. I did find his place of business after I have posted my previous inquiery. Also I have added you to my friends list at the forum so, feel free to contact me.
