Howdy all!

I'm a current owner (past 6 years) of a 99 XK8 and love it! Looking at buying either an XKR or XJ8.

Any suggestions and or years to stay away from would be appreciated.

I see alot of 2004's out there anything to note with that year?

Thanks
Curt

Welcome to the forum Curt,

You would be well advised to go over to the tech sections and see what
everyone has to say.

Hi Curt,

Welcome to the forum! In the XJ 350 threads, many have noted 2004 was the first year for this car in the States and there were a handful of issues that were addressed in 2005. Personally I never buy a car the first year it is introduced, I have been an avid car enthusiast for a long time and have noticed quite frequently real world tests early buyers experience reveals flaws that get addressed the following year. There should be plenty available at reasonable prices.

Good luck!

Hello and welcome Curt,

The later year the better is the usual advice but condition and history are more important.

Whichever you choose, enjoy the search.

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and advice. I'm still looking for my next Jag and have been focused on 2006 and later.

On a side note thanks to the forum I took my 99 XK8 in this morning to have the tensioners replaced! Love the car and don't want to chance losing the engine.

Cheers!
