Good Morning All,

I'm new to the site. Joined because I am having issues with my 1994 xj6 vanden plas.

Had engine replaced with with 1994 xj6 engine. the mechanic had to modify oil filler tube because on my engine 6cyl 4.0 engine the oil was filled through the valve cover and this one had filler tube.

Problem is now car starts but idles rough and shuts off. I was wondering if the ecu needed to be reset because of the engine replacement.

If not what else could be the cause?

The X300 and XJ40 sections will help you. You have evidently put in a much older engine if you now have a filler tube.
