Hi All, coordinator has asked for an introduction from me,
so just a quick note from a 'newbie' to say 'hello'.

I've put down a deposit on an XK8 2003 Convertible with an MOT confirmed 16,500K, with FSH, which has past the HPI test.. It's not replated yet from a personalised plate so only a poor picture from a phone to post.... see 2003 XK8 Photo by johnscottorn | Photobucket

So, not being able to budget for a quality E type I've gone for something close.
I'm recently retired and live in S. Oxfordshire and through the website I wish to share info' on technical and practical matters as well as increasing some social contacts.

Mrs S had her licence revoked early 2012 due to cranial surgery.
Having the philosophy together that we all need someone to love, something to do and something to look forward to...... one thing we decided would be a tremendous thing to look forward to when she returns to driving, would be a 'fun' car as well as owning a 'day to day' hack.

My first concerns have been to stop the surface rust over some of the underside. I've read daveholds version of treating the undersides, see his postings on https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...r-65647/page3/ .... (thanks Dave for info so far) and would like to know of any professional companies doing similar work with Dinitrol etc.
I don't mind travelling to get away from Thames Valley prices!

I'm usually very DIY but with an old yacht taking up much of my time yachties see..... Sailing Campletown To Loch Ranza (NW Arran) 29.6.12 Video by johnscottorn | Photobucket and being in a bit of a hurry to get things sorted before winter, I think I'd rather pay to get it done by the right people asap. Any thoughts?

I used to race motocross and owned trials bikes in my early 30's to release some testosterone and to get a fantastic thrill, whilst my main interest was coaching rowing - both as an amateur and professional for 40 years. (thank goodness sailing saved me from that!)

I also built my own kit car, a Nelson S350. This was having a light space frame chassis with a GRP body and floor tub and Rover V8 engined with Jaguar XJ6 running gear. Exceptionally lightweight and fast up to around 70mph, but having the aerodynamics of a wardrobe, it had problems of feeling a bit light on the road thereafter. It did however hurt when I had to sell it a few years ago to pay for a new engine on my boat.

S.

Welcome to the forum Scotty,

Thanks for such an interesting Intro. I particularly enjoyed the sailing video.

I've copied your XK8 from Photobucket so everyone can view it more easily. It's in one of my favourite colours and the alloys look superb.

Sorry to hear about Mrs S health issues. I hope she's recuperating well and will soon be back to driving.

I know you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR section so no need for a link from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues. If you are new to XK8's, tensioners, cooling system and transmission fluid are the first things to check.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK Region section by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forum.
