I am jumping in with both feet on probably my last "car project". I stumbled on a 1985 XJ6 with an excellent body and everything original. I had been looking for a 240 Volvo and I also knew of 2 TR7's in my neighborhood. I'm glad I found the Jaguar though, it's a much larger car and better looking I think. I don't want to offend any of you, but the project is swapping a Chevrolet LT1 engine and 4L60e 4-speed automatic for the stock 6-cylinder. I have the original engine/trans which I will keep in dry storage, as I will every original piece I don't use. This will take me about a year, as my retirement income allows. I will post pictures as the project moves along.

Welcome to the forum LT1 jaguar,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

We have several members who have done a similar powertrain swap on Series I and Series II XJ6's but doing it to a Series III is rarer.

Follow this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...s-i-ii-iii-16/ to the XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Northwest Region forum by following this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/ to find other members in your region.

Good luck with your project and enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks for the info GGG. This is my first build with a computer/fuel injected engine and my first brush with any foreign (to me) car. It sounds like I'll be in good hands on this forum.

You should start a project thread in XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III forum. I and many other members will be interested to follow your progress.

Congratulations on your new Jaguar! (Any Xj6 looks better than a Volvo!)
*Many* of us drive Chevy Powered Jaguars!
Most "Traditionalists", although they might not like the idea, would rather see a Chevy Powered Jaguar than that same car in the wrecking yard because it no longer passes Emissions Standards.

I'll look for you over in our Xj6 playroom where GGG has guided you.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

I've just seen your Visitor Message to me about your avatar orientation.

If you don't have appropriate software, I can rotate it for you.

Thanks for the reply Graham. I must not have the right software, so I appreciate your offer. I've removed my avatar for now.

Dave,

I didn't think I could amend Avatars but found where to do it in our Moderator Control Panel. Yours should appear the right way up with your next post.
