New Member - Canada - 95 X300 Vanden Plas
Evening All!
Im Will, a ski lift mechanic in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I originally hail from Wales, in the UK and after 15 ears in Canada, Im almost considered a local.
A couple of years back I was in need of a vehicle and a good friend of my Dad happened to have a couple of XJ6 Lawn ornaments his wife was hoping to remove! So, I became an owner of a (mostly) running 95 X300 and a second not so running 97 XJ6.
I have slowly been working on the X300, as the body was in better shape and the engine ran. It has since had quite a bit of an overhaul as it developed a misfire, due to a very crusted up exhaust valve. compression test on cylinder 5 was the culprit. I pulled the head last winter and cleaned it up, re-seated the valves, replaced hoses, polished up covers etc. It ran well for most of the summer and I love it!
So far it has had:
Fuel tank cleaned and sealed.
Top end rebuild.
New Crank sensor bracket, courtesy of Mr Stoddart
Rebuilt steering rack
Replaced drivers seat as it had been torn.
Thanks all and I look forward to learning and reading more about these cool, comfy chariots.
