Hi i'm from Dorset in the UK and have owned my s type for 3years.
Prior to that I drove BMWs for 30 years but became disenchanted when it seemed every other car on the road was a BMW !
Now I only see another 's' type once in a while which makes life more interesting.
Although 11 years old my Jag is low milage and was owned by a company which had it serviced yearly even though it might only have done 2/3000 miles.
Brakes have been the main problem but this is now sorted leaving only the cruise control playing up.
I trained as a motor mechanic in my youth with Mercedes Benz and Peugeot but that was when cars were machines not computers, so rarely work on them now cos even if you fix it there is bound to be a warning light to be put out by a dealer.(or perhaps i'm too lazy now )
Thanks for replies so far to my thread will take on board all advice
Cheers

Welcome to the forum CATCARGIN,
Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums. A scan tool is going to be an essential if you want to avoid paying dearly for troubleshooting.
I know you've already found your way to the S-Type tech section so no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK Region forum by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country.
Enjoy the forums.
