Hi guys just joined the forum. Picked up a 2002 X-Type for my daughter four days ago, got it super cheap but it's had a pretty neglected life. It's got plenty of issues that need to be fixed and I've already dropped more than $1200 on parts from a bunch of places online to fix most of them. Tried my local Jag dealer parts department but when they quoted me over $400 just for intake manifold and valve cover gaskets I quickly learned that I need to shop elsewhere when possible.

After a thorough cleaning, fixed the drivers door latch that was broken, replaced plugs, valve cover gaskets, intake gaskets, and then got to work tidying up the very neglected leather interior and center console. Had to patch a 3/4" hole in the drivers seat leather, and refurbished the entire interior over the past 3 days and it came out great.

A little about me, I'm retired from the U.S. Navy with wife, 2 kids, and 2 grandkids (age 7) and hobbies are turning wrenches on anything with a motor. I've been working on cars, ships, airplanes, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and lot's of other stuff for 30+ years. Pretty good with electronics and fix a lot of late model BMW's, Mercedes, and most every other import and domestic brand as well so I hope to pick up some tips about the X-Type common problems on the Forum and hopefully can give back as well.

Welcome to the forum Itmax,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

As you are quickly finding out, Jaguar parts are expensive. Fortunately the interior now looks great because trim item costs are outrageous!

I know you've already found your way to the X-Type tech section so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
