Hello all, I have just re-joined the Jaguar clan, bought a 1985V12 XJ-S, low miles (77K) but very little use in the last ten years - about 150 -200 miles per year! It runs pretty well but has 'issues' of course. The only problem there is: I HATE issues!
It ran cool and the oil pressure gauge read right at the very top of the scale, so I changed both thermostats and both oil pressure switches (which was a right chore as the big one just would not come undone - had to take about 90% of the top of the engine off to get it), fortunately, both oil switches were leaking badly otherwise the entire excercise would have been futile! Yup, loads of work and no difference to any of the gauge readings. I have come to the conclusion the gauges are duff or there's a bad connection/earth fault, and I will get to this shortly...
Also the new headlining had failed and was all very loose, I have removed it and re-glued the whole thing and put it back in, at least THAT was successful! I also managed to mess with the idle speed which is now wrong (ho-hum!) and I will sort that out the next time I actually drive it/get it up to temperature.
I have asked in the XJ-S forum about the horn not working but thought I'd better introduce myself.
Dave.

Welcome to the forum Dave,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

Hello, Dave.
The V-12 Gurus say these engines do better if they're Driven once in a while, not a mere 200 miles a year.
(I can't imagine only driving my Jag 200 miles a year! 200 miles a day? Oh Yeah!)
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB,
