New member from Granite Bay California
My name is Mike Waggoner and I recently purchased my late step fathers 1997 XK8 from my mom for $1.00
My stepfather Ron Bodeen, was the type of guy that never shied away from attempting to fix something. He owned a sailboat, a motor coach and a motorboat and he did a splendid job on any repair that he set his mind to.
The Jaguar was one of his bucket list items and he bought it used when he knew that his health was failing. He tinkered with it and drove it until his health wouldn't allow him to do so and after his passing, mom sold it to me "where is, as is" for one dollar.
I drove it from San Diego to Northern California and it was a joy to drive. The car has grown on me and I'm looking forward to repairing it and keeping it running in the spirit of Ron.
Thank you in advance to everyone who has contributed so much to this forum as it certainly is a wealth of information.
Best regards to every one.

Hello, Mike,
It sounds like you're well motivated to keep an already good running car running even better "in the spirit of Ron." Someone will be along soon to direct you to the correct section where you can find help doing just that! I wish you success.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum Mike,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
You've posted several "Thank You" messages to members. The easy way to do this is just to click on the button at the bottom right of their post.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham

Hey, Mike, welcome to the forum and congrats on getting such a special car for such an attractive price! At that price you might just afford to keep it up. Your calling it a bucket list car for your stepfather struck a note with me. I hadn't thought of it quite that way but realize that mine is pretty much that for me as well. I had sold my beloved XK-150 nearly 40 years earlier and almost a year ago managed to get my XK8, after some years of unrequited lust. My daughter lives near you and drives a 2006 XJ8 Vanden Plas. Perhaps some time when I'm visiting her we'll cross paths. Best of luck with your new ride!
