Default New member, help with potential jag purchase!

So there's an x-type for sale and they are asking 1.3k, its black on black manual 2.5(wish it was the 3.0) interior looks pretty good seats are in a crispy condition, according to the owner the car drives well and shifts smoothly. It's also a clean title with 113k miles.

As for the cons, it's leaking brake fluid and you have to constantly pump the clutch since it "depends on how long you can drive and last withought losing pressure." The other problem is it needs front brakes and rotors. It also has a spare on the back but they have the original tire. I'm sure the tire can possibly be patched if it was just nail. I don't know of the tread on the others.

Other than that the car seems to be in a good condition exterior wise. I've done a little research and found that it could be leaking brake fluid due to it needs brakes and rotors.

I will be meeting with the seller tonight but I just wanted to know if it is worth it and even if I possibly bring it down to 1.1k.

I'm not familiar with X-type, but in general, a car with this many miles and these problems should go for Cheap.
Brakes/rotors are not inexpensive to replace. If it only needed pads you could do it yourself in an afternoon for not much money, depending where you get pads and quality.
Everything you list here is a point of negotiation.
So Negotiate! The Third Rule of Acquisition plainly states: "Never pay more than you have to."
Because you'll have to either fix all that yourself or (way worse) pay someone to fix it for you.
I wish you success whichever way you decide.

Welcome to the forum dgram,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the X_Type forum with this question so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

LOCATION is the biggest factor in used Jaguar values - that's one of the reasons we ask for it. I might just pay 500 UKP (650 USD) for one in that condition. If you can't DIY the repairs then it will cost at least as much as the asking price to fix.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
