New member intro
Hi all
I just bought a 2006 XJ8L for a great price so after years of lusting, I've become an owner. Totally impressed if slightly wary of those extra inches in familiar spaces but the ride is wonderful and it even gets better mileage than the 10 year old I lexus traded in on it.
Right now, apart from familiarizing myself with the feel and feedback of the new car so I can 'read' it as I go, I am wondering where in Austin TX I can find a decent shop to service it. Plan on learning lots more from the good folks here as I go.
Peace

Hi Oscar +1 on nevettes welcome from me, good to have you here
There's usually plenty going on in most sections, most of the time.
You might find the off topic good for fun, maybe check out the mug shot thread and add yours?
Don't forget the regional section and also the detailing section is a must.
Some good guys and great techs, top vendors and more to come....all good
In the meantime I've upgraded you manually to full forum access so you can better view the site
Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com.
Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will enjoy your Jag and interacting with all the good people who participate here.
Please post a description of your Jag (Year, model. engine, etc.) so that it shows each time you log on. That way when you respond to someone or ask a question, all of us will know exactly which car you are talking about. Look at some of the posts for examples.
Always good to welcome another Texan. Come on up the road and check out Dallas sometime. We have some good independent Jag mechanics here.

I am sure you will enjoy your XJ8, I have an XJ6 in the same series. You're right about it being a big car, it was the biggest ever Jaguar when it came out in 2003, but actually weighs less than the S-Type due to its aluminium construction. I just love the interior, and the body style is obviously based on the original XJ of 1968 which I also love, (I had an XJ6 Series 3 for 14 years). Lots of UK owners report very good fuel mileage, although it seems I am included out as I only get about 24-25 per UK gallon, it must be all those short journeys I make.
I can't help you with a garage for servicing unfortunately, I'm too far away.

Thanks all. Think I've edited the sig as required and am glad to be here. Yep, those short journeys visibly drop my mileage but despite the extra inches, this car responds like a dream. Got rained on heavily today (rare here) and splashed up a bit, so the new car gloss has dimmed a bit and I could not be happier, now it really feels like mine!
