Hello! My name is John. I recently joined the forum to see what is happening in the Jag world of enthusiasts. I bought a new 2013 XKR/S in 2013 and had a lot of fun at the Jaguar Driver's Academy at Laguna Seca last year. My previous high speed driving experience involved Porsches from the 1960's to the late 1980's where I time trialed and auto-crossed a variety of vintage 'bathtub' and a few varieties of 911 at Southern California tracks. It was a new experience driving the Academy's XKR's at speed on the LS track as my experience was to always get 'pushed' through the turns with Porsches. I'm selling the XKR/S in order to help fund a new Project 7 Jaguar and I hope to see this happen in the near future!

I worked with Steve McQueen (Sand Pebbles and the Get Away) in my early days, spent a career that usually had me on an airplane between most Continents and retired earlier this month.

I enjoy riding my K1600GTL on road trips (recently solo'd old Hwy 66 from Indy to home in Cardiff by the Sea, CA). Enough of me! Looking forward to reading about Jag's and other owner's. John

Well, I visited the Jaguar dealer in Carlsbad, CA 6 months ago where I purchased the new 2013 XKR/S. I told the sales lady I was interested in using the XKR/S as a down payment on a Project 7 which I hoped to order during the visit. She told me there wasn't any interest in the XKR/S (had 10,000 miles on it and was pristine/garaged under cover, etc.). I was disappointed that a Jaguar rep would have such a low interest considering I purchased the car from them new for approximately $140K.

Drove across the freeway, the dealership was more than happy to talk to me, took the XKR/S in trade and I drove away in my new i8 BMW. Still, I would have preferred the Project 7 in BRG with tan hides but, Jag lost a customer for ever.

Anyone local to Southern California interested in a custom, in-door XKR/S car cover, $100 to first taker! John4surf@me.com. John

John,

That's extraordinary and shows why US Jaguar Dealers often get such a hard time on the forum!

I wonder if your XKR/S will make the trip back across the freeway from the BMW Dealer in a trade deal.

If you want to sell the car cover then a post in PRIVATE For Sale / Trade or Buy Classifieds - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum is the best place.

Thanks for the response and suggestion Graham!

Despite the extreme satisfaction I've had with the Jaguar, I concur the level of sales professionalism at their dealership (at least the one I exclusively dealt with) reminds me of the deserved 'bad rap' of used car salesmen (that has become second only to Amrica's politicians :-)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to those of you who celebrate the Seasons! John
