Default New member looking for information

Hello, I am a new member and am looking for information on something I have.
I am trying to identify this Jaguar. It seems to made of solid brass it weighs almost 2 pounds, is about 7.5 inches long and is mostly polished but has some rough areas.
Could it be a hood ornament from an old Jaguar?
I have done searches for images like it and the closest I find is an image of a supposed 1937 Jaguar prototype? I am going by the shape of the base as the Jaguar shapes are mostly the same through the years.
It doesn't have any markings on it. Just a threaded hole in the base.
Is there some listing that has a catalog of hood ornaments?
I hoped that someone here could help.
Thank you.
Dan

Welcome to this friendly Forum,
An interesting item, I wonder if it is a copy since you say it's a bit rough in places.
Also the threaded bush looks a bit modern, interesting to know what thread it is.

Enjoy your membership here.

Thanks for the reply, Not sure of the thread size but a 1/4-20 bolt fits nicely.
Also I'm thinking more like it is cast bronze not brass. And the rough areas match the ones in the link above, of the mascot on the radiator.

Thanks

Well that's 1/4 Whitworth (Rule Brittania) which is what you'd expect at that time.
Might be worth a bit.
What's the history of it ?

Basically no history.
I am cleaning out an old garage of my stepfather-inlaw, and found it. No other old car parts around, he was into buffing and polishing so he might have picked it up somewhere and intended to polish it up and never got around to it?
He never mentioned any thing about it to me, so I have no history, he died over 10 years ago. No one else to ask.

Dan

Of course it could also be 1/4 UNC, but that doesn't help much with identifying it.

Welcome to the forum Dan,

If it's bronze, that's most unusual for any standard Jaguar mascot. JDHT (Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust) may be able to help you identify it.
