Hello, my name is Carrie and I am the mistress of a 1998 Jaguar XJ8 Vanden Plas in blue/oyster that is under a tarp until my transmission issue is resolved (grrr)... It occurred after driving it around for a month or so subsequent to purchase in Chicago and a sweet ride home to Maine. I hope to chat with other Jaguar owners to learn about the potential foibles of Jaguar ownership, socialize and enjoy my time on the forum. 💕

Hello, Carrie,
I'm sorry your kitty is under a tarp! How sad!
Members in the section where Graham has directed you will certainly help you either fix it or get a proper deal on repairs.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Default Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Thank you all for such a nice welcome! I do hope to have my Vanden Plas running again soon... Shall first try adding a wee bit of transmission fluid as it may have been a bit low after the Chicago to Maine journey, along with a Maine to CT run, and then home again, plus out and about town for a month or so. I must say that the peculiarity of not having a transmission dipstick to check, as on my Lincoln, is a bit off putting and concerning. Unless I view it as one of the (not) lovable Jqguar quirks I'll be learning about (enduring?!)...

Welcome.

Bugga on that trans.

The NO dipstick is a ZF (Trans maker) stupid idea.

Sometimes??? a simple drain and refill with fresh fluid does wonders, worth a go in my opinion.

Forgot, it happens.

Make sure you can remove the fill BEFORE draining that trans, or you could be a spot of bother, and words will be said.
