Default New Member : Not Yet Jagged!

Hi all!

I'm a 23 year Old law student at Wits University in South Africa, but I'm of Zimbabwean origin

This past holiday while driving in Zim in my dads Mazda B2200, I saw a car the likes of which I'd never seen before in my life. The body lines told me it was a Jaguar, but the breed was not of this generation, not of my generation.

My generation thinks Skyfall's XJ-L when you mention Jaguar, but this, this was a 1972 Series 1, 4.2 Liter XJ6. Left to Rot. (The Horror-I know) My heart was wringing and I knew I had to have that car

The owner had it parked at a friends house for the last 4 years. Two of the wheels where off the car but accounted for. And whatever faults the Bodywork and the Interior Work harbor, that engine started with a single kick.

I traced the owner down, recovered what history I could from him, and the more I talked the more I wanted to tow that car back home with me.

Alas Funds.

Its not yet mine (So I am not yet Jagged) But it will be, (If not this one then another XJ6 I will find) and when it happens, I want to be ready to tear it apart, rebuild it, i want to know what to look out for, how to handle it, how to know when something's wrong, where to go to fix it.

I want to restore her to that Original William Lyons Gold Rating, and this forum looks like it will gladly help me take it there!

Cheers!

Personally, I think the Xj6 series were The Most Beautiful Jaguars ever to exit the door of Coventry!

You'll have Quite a project on your hands restoring this one.

Don't give up on that car. Cant you hear it calling? Saaaaaave me! Saaaaaaaaave me! Go and tell the owner you'll relieve him of that ugly eyesore and it wont cost him a penny! ---- But don't laugh till you're around the corner.
But seriously. I would love to have one of those. Good luck whatever you end up driving. Keep us posted.

Welcome to the forum iAdvocateXJR,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I've seen a lot worse than that restored to good condition. It just takes determination and money so you're already half way there!

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj6-xj12-series-i-ii-iii-16/ to the XJ6 Series I, II & III forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You can also visit the Other Areas Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/other-areas-43/

Enjoy the forums.
