Cool New member from Queensland, Australia

Hi guys,

I have just joined the Jaguar Forum to try to solve a problem I have had for some time.

15 Years ago I owned a Series 3 Daimler fitted with a 350 chev, of all my cars, that was my favorite.

I have now been the proud owner of a 1977 XJC 4.2 for 1 1/2 years and it is my new favorite car.

I have been researching alternative wheels on and off for some time now and I am having trouble finding accurate information concerning the offset.

I recently missed out on a set of wheels made for an XJC, they were:
17 x 7.5 rims with ET38 and 225/55/17 tyres.

I have found another set of new rims the same dimensions.
I would just have to get the holes drilled out from 120 to 120.65 PCD.

Before I buy them, will they fit?

Any likely problems with these wheels fitting?

Without any modifications to the car, what would be the widest rim for an XJ6 and what would the ideal offset be?

Thanks

Welcome.

They are getting a tad wide for the rear from my memory??.

If you re ask in the Xj6-XJ12 S1/2/3 Tech section, there will be answers for sure.

The 120.65 is no big deal, as long as its done right.

Default Welcome

Welcome to JF [Seemore] and greetings from the south;

Paul, as your QLD Regional Co-ordinator, is away at work overseas at present - although he may see this if his incredibly long ball of string and tin cans still have him connected to the internet. I know that he would want us all to extend you the red carpet in the meantime.

Like Grant, I suggest you post your technical queries, especially of wheel sizes, rim widths and tyres over to the JJ6/XJ12 forum where a far broader mix of gurus will see your post and reply. Having said that, I have the 2 way correspondence, build sheet and invoice for the wire wheels fitted to my SIII XJ6 saloon . . . stipulating that 17x7" was the maximum that could be fitted, and on that basis, they were. Looks and works a treat . . . not much clearance, but its there.

I don't have any data that wheel well or suspension layouts differ on the XJC compared to saloons, so I would be quite skeptical of 7.5" unless proven they fit. Sorry, I don't have offsets or other data. Either 225/55R17 or 215/60R17 tyres OK on 7" rims.

Cheers,

Ken
