Cool New member SoCal area, S-Type R

Hello All,
New member here in sunny California.

After buying my silver S-Type R, several naysayers felt compelled to forewarn me of the "trouble with Jaguars." Well, what they didn't know is that it only had 16.7k on the odometer and was in very good condition. Now, two YEARS and several thousand miles later, I'm happy to report that it's still running like new. All it takes is regular maintenance and careful inspections by my local mechanic and yours truly. If you take good care of your Jaguar, your Jaguar will take good care of you.

As an automotive engineer, enthusiast, and overall gearhead, my favorite aspects of this car are its understated styling and sleeper status in the car world. Even most automotive enthusiasts have NO IDEA what's under the hood. Pardon the worn out metaphor, but it's like a rogue British Mi5 agent in a Savile Row suit. Surprise!

Thank you already for the information I've found here so far. I've already diagnosed a couple of minor maintenance issues. Also, I will be at the Cars 'n Coffee on March 6th. Hope to see some of you there!

Happy Motoring!

Welcome, i work in Torrance....funny that ive seen like 4 STR's on the 91 recently....im used to never seeing one around, however i see them popping up rather frequently now. And i agree with your original post, as a car guy i know what to expect, if you take care of things, they will take care of you back.

My 2003 CBR 600RR has over 32000 miles on it, and runs and starts like new. I maintain it myself, and even draining the oil it is still clean after about 3-4k miles.

Thanks Riski. Cool video links. BTW, one of my colleagues worships Suzukis.

What kind of power is that STR of yours pumping out? I know, I should search the threads to find out.

Well for now its just the full custom exhaust, frow cat to 2.5" into x pipe and then into magnoflows.....and upper pulley and mina intake.....power unknown w/ such mods, but will be doing the lower crank pulley, t stat, custom intake, port/polish of blower, and tune within the next month or two and should see what she will do on the dyno then......and if that is not enough Ill push the button for another 75hp
