Cool New Members, with an XK8 issue

Hello from sunny, dry and hot Tucson, Arizona (currently 113 degrees at 10:30 am). We have a 1998 XK-8, which originally belonged to my husband's grandfather. It has 27K original miles, which can be both blessing and curse. We've had minor electrical issues over the years, but it has always driven beautifully. We drove it Sunday morning, no issues. Sunday evening my husband attempted to move it around to the garage and it wouldn't start. The battery is fine, it has fuel (we have only ever used 93 octane), and it cranks but will not turn over. We checked for Nikasil complications given its age and low mileage, but there is no evidence that this is the problem. Spark plugs and air filter are in great shape, too. Tried starting in neutral, tried starting it with the gas pedal depressed, no luck. Wires, fuses, hoses, all check out. The car is garaged when it isn't being driven, and is in excellent shape. We are puzzled and flustered, and hopeful that someone here might have an idea what is going on. Cheers!

Welcome to the forum 98XK8inTucson,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Is that to say it turns over (cranks) but does not fire? As the vehicle was driven the same day, it could be vapour lock from the high ambient temperature or it could be bore wash if your husband has been repeatedly cranking it.
