Hello all,

Baywaters707 here in the SF Bay Area and I became the new owner of a 1997 XK8 with 150, 000mi. The car seems all around well taken care of. Still has the jaguar vehicle maintenance and drivers handbooks. Recently put a new cat on and tuned her up. Nothing glaring at the moment (Fingers Crossed).

I joined because every time I searched for flaws and fixes I ended up here. I liked what I've read so far and hope to learn a little from the members. I hope I stayed within the new member guidelines...I'd hate to be branded a rebel first post :-)

The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues. With an early model, pay particular attention to information on the two weak spots of tensioners and cooling system. Also the advice on transmission fluid changes.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thank you and yes these are magnificent looking autos. I find that the first thing I read here has happened 2or3 times since I bought the car. Just random folks at the stop light to tell me what a good looking car I have. It does instill a certain sense of pride. Lol
