Default New owner from Oklahoma

Hello all, greetings from Del City, Oklahoma. Recently purchased a 2002 X type with 86k miles on the clock. It was obviously sitting somewhere for some time before I got it because all 4 tires are dry rotted so bad, I don't understand how they are holding air. Was told the fuel pump was bad and that was the only thing keeping it from running again. Said he was driving it down the road about a month before i got it and it sputtered and died. He pulled into a mechanic shop, who diagnosed the pump and said they could fix it with a used pump for a couple hundred dollars. He said no and put it up for sale. I researched fixing it and seen that it didn't look too awful hard to replace the pump. He asked $1k, I gave him $750, and had it hauled home. Fortunately for me, someone had already cut an access hole under the seat, score!! I pulled the pump out and dismantled it, cleaned it up, and figured out the problem was the wire plug at the pump wasn't making contact. I cleaned it up and put it back in, added some gas, and voila, fired right up. I went ahead and ordered a replacement pump only, since it had a few mile on it, and is also 16 years old. Anyways, driving it down the block, the back brakes were dragging real bad. I picked up some pads and pulled the wheels to redo the calipers. That's when I found out someone had already replaced the left side. I was from a 2005-08 model, and my pads didn't work on that one. The right side was still stock. Got them cleaned up and went for a drive. Front dragging now. Cleaned them up and lubed and put back together. Still has some drag. Put some more gas in, but it only tried to hit once, now just cranks. Fuel pump is still running, but i had no pressure on the shrader valve when I pressed it, actually absolutely nothing happened when I pressed it. Changed the fuel filter hoping it was just clogged, but still no start. I do however get some fuel at the rail now, bit it doesn't seem to be under any pressure. I will pick up a fuel pressure tester gauge at Harbor Freight tomorrow to test it. I also have found a couple plugs under the hood that aren't hooked up to anything, and I can't tell where they might go. I'll try to track down what they are later, I first want to get this thing running again so I can get the codes pulled. I didn't have a helper available to turn the key while I sprayed starter fluid, so I don't know if it has spark or not......

Welcome to the forum BJagged,

Your post was automatically locked for moderation. I can't see a problem with the content so it must be the single block of text with no line breaks triggering post scanning as spam. I've unlocked it and other members will now be able to view it and reply. Please use LINE BREAKS in future. A single block of text is hard work to read.

Hello,
I'm sure there's a great story buried in there somewhere, but a solid wall of unbroken text is more than I'm up to wading through this morning, so I'll just say,
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
