Default New S-type owner

Hello all, I recently acquired a green 2003 s-type r. I kind of just fell into it since it was so cheap on craigslist ($2500). But it seems like a fun car. I'm not usually a Jaguar guy as I own a slew of old BMWs, audi and a few domestics but they have always interested me. The car seems pretty solid so far. So far I've fixed a couple issues (Non functioning radio, absolutely destroyed control arms and tie rod ends, sunglass door, broken armrest, trim falling off) and I'll soon tackle the dccv setup because I'm getting no heat right now. But since it's summer and the A/C works flawlessly I'm not too hurried. Looks like there is a plethora of info around here and I'm excited to find out more about these cars. I appreciate all the knowledge accumulated.

My biggest issue is with the lethargic automatic. I've ordered clutch parts to take some measurements off of and I've emailed a few breakers to find out pricing of diesel manual 6speeds and am waiting to hear back. Looks difficult but not impossible.

Welcome to the Forums.

Most ZF trans issues are Stale Fluid related, and a drop and refill is simple to do and not huge $$.

Good luck.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
It sounds like the poor thing is suffering from Massive and Chronic Deferred Maintenance.

It's a little known fact that Jaguars are Living Entities, and as such, greatly appreciate attention from new caring owners. Especially after having endured an Uncaring owner such as your car obviously has. They repay such kind attention with faithful service for many Years to come. I'm sure your kitty will do the same.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
