Default New S Type Owner ready to embark on the money pit!

Hi Guys,

I have just bought my first Jag, a 2003 S-Type Sport 3.0 Auto, with, believe it or not, transmission problems!

I have always liked these cars, but could not afford one when they were new, and have been put off by the reliability for buying used. Today however, i made a purchase - it was too good of a deal to pass up. Well, i think it was, you guys that know better may tell me i'm crazy

It's in almost perfect condition apart from a chip in the windscreen and some light wear on the edge of the drivers seat where you get in. 80,000 miles and i paid $2750 for it.

I'm no stranger to a bit of auto mechanics. I've been one for the last 15 years getting my trade training in the UK before moving here in 2002. Most of my experience in in older cars so this Jag is a whole new ball game, but i'm hoping the problem is something i can manage myself along with the help that is always readily available on these forums. They are such great resources of information with so many helpful people that it's impossible not to become part of the family.

I'm sure you'll bee seeing posts from me soon with some dumb questions. At least until i get my head around this stuff

Ok ac427, welcome to the forums (again?). I am a bit skeptical but time and a mod ping may prove me wrong! Enjoy your "new money pit" and I hope it proves your title wrong. See you in the S Type Section and be sure to post a pic of yourself and "the money pit" in the S Type section Mug Shots.

Welcome to the forum ac, I hope that you don't have a money pit, it certainly looks cheap enough to start with.

Good luck with the gearbox.
