New from So Cal
Greetings from Orange county, California
New to this forum, and new to Jaguars.
I have had British vehicles years ago, 1969 Austin Healy MkII, MGA, and 1964 BSA Hornet.
I believed that the Brits had come out of the dark ages of Lucas electrics and have always admired the styling of the XK8/R series of autos!
So, when remodeling a client's beach home (she lives in Colorado) I discovered her garaged Red 2003 KXR with tan soft top.
She mentioned while talking about the Jag, (27,000miles) that she would be selling it for a family SUV.
I told her that if I could afford it, that I would love to get it for my wife's birthday. Well, she asked if I could afford $5000 because I did such a meticulous job on her home. I readily agreed thinking I never find deals like this.
So I take the wife to the job to show her the remodel we completed, then we go to the garage and comment on the beautiful car.
My wife marvels on the shapely lines and the bright color (she has an orange jeep) and I ask her if she likes it?
Responds "oh yes" so I hand her the keys and say Happy Birthday!
Ever heard the term "No good deed goes unpunished"? Well, now I am living that line!
Now 2 months and $3000 later and still can't smog test for registration transfer, more on that in the proper thread tomorrow.
Glad I came across this forum!

Welcome to the Forums.
Well picked up on the XKR.
Since we dont have smog testing, I can only imagine your pain.
I have heard??? that too low mileage can cause all sorts of issues, and maybe that is the root cause here ? The Cat Converters dont like it and get all hissy.
Members in the XK8/R *X100) Tech Section will have sensible answers.
Good luck.

Hello, Brian,
What a Prince! To surprise your wife with a RED Jag! (RED is my second favorite color right after BLACK)
Actually, $8000 total isn't a bad price for such a car, especially if your wife continues to like the idea.
I wish you success getting it running for her.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
