New from WisCONsin
Hello! I am looking into a new car in the next few months, and the XF (maybe the XJ) is in the running. Trying to to some research and get opinions, so I hope to get some good advice from the forum.
Big pluses for me on the Jaguar side is obviously the design (both inside and out) is just, IMHO, second to none, as well as alot of power. Big negatives are lack of AWD to deal with our horrible WisCONsin winters, and also I have heard that real time traffic information is not available with the NAV (if true, hoping they fix that for 2012). In my current vehicle (an Acura RL before Acura started putting giant bagel slicers on the front of their cars), that feature has saved me from getting stuck in traffic jams on several occasions.

Decisions - Decisions - Decisions???
Good luck with your hunt....hope we can help
You might find the off topic good for fun, maybe check out the mug shot thread and add yours?
Some really good guys and great techs, top vendors offering good pricing levels and great service, and more to come....all good
In the meantime I've upgraded you manually to full forum access so you can better view the site
Good day, Kilgore - and Wisconsin greetings to you. Yes, the whole RWD thing and our weather conditions is a consideration. I understand the AWD X-types are quite good in the snow, though. My car is pretty old now and gets parked for the winter, so I don't have to worry about it. What's the story with the capitalized CON of WisCONsin?
Happy decision making!

Thanks everyone!
The "CON" is just a joke that we Wisconsonites tend to accent the second syllable of words and such with our accent. I should have thought a bit about that though...hope people don't think I just got out of jail!!!
It is going to be a tough call car wise. I love all things British, so that just adds more attraction to the Jag. My favorite Top Gear act is the recent one where Jeremy races God (the sun, more accurately) with an XJ from one side of England to the other. However, I think I don't need something as large as an XJ, when the XF will do nicely. Plus I like the XF exterior better (although I like the XJ interior better), and its, of course, cheaper.
The snow is an issue. I think as long as the Jag can handle an inch or so of snow, I can always take the wife's SUV for the big snow days. They do a pretty decent job of clearing the roads around here. I am also a believer in snow tires.
I am also thinking of waiting until the 2012 XFs come out. Seems like they will have some new features worth waiting for. The 2012 e class is also going to have some changes, so I may be waiting for late summer/fall to do some more test driving. In the meantime, I want to hear what you all have to say and do some research!!!
Thanks for the warm welcome!

The local Jaguar/Volvo dealer was having a Radio Disney kids thing going on. My five year old has my "car nut" genes and insisted on sitting in the drivers side of the XFR in the showroom. I sent the pics to the dealer, and they plan to use them on their website!
