Default New X type owner

Hi

Just bought an X type - a nearly mint 2.0D SE estate. 25k miles on 58 plate. Very happy so far, just a few minor issues to sort out (which were reflected in the price, so no quibbles).

I have been on the look out for one of these for a while as I'm a long term Mondeo TDCI driver and do most of my own work on it. The X type is clearly very similar in many respects, so I figured it's a way of getting to drive a nicer car for sensible money.

Looking forward to picking your collective brains and already have a few questions ready.

Hi there Rob & welcome aboard, good to have you here with us
As you say as an ex Mondeo Tdci driver ( me also ) you will know that around 20% of the car is the same, mostly the engine and running gear, so you should have no issues with that.

As for the rest?

Default Good for You!

Contragulations on your Estate (here in the States Sportwagon). I have wanted one since they were introduced, but the ones I have found in Ohio are EXPENSIVE. The most recent was an '05 with 132K and they were asking 12K. It sold in two days! Good luck and please post pictures of your cat! Bill in USA Ohio.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys.

Bill - strange that here in the UK they seem so much better value. Mine cost me £12k with only 25k miles and she's well specified (SE but seems to have a few extras also - sports dash, quilted creame leather etc). At that price you're talking about the cost of a new Ford Fiesta or similar, I know which I'd rather have.
