Default New X100 XKR

Hi there everyone. I've recently brought a 1999 XKR which I love and am impressed with. She had the engine replaced by Jaguar under warranty at around 70,000kms (to one with steel liners), chain tenshioners and water pump also changed). Now has done 170,000kms. The previous owner looked after her well and changed the engine oil religiously every 12 months. Plus dealer serviced every 16,000kms as per the book. The gearbox was serviced at 50,000kms and had it's oil changed again at 70,000kms (due to a leak). My question is around what should I expect re longevity from the engine and gearbox? I have read that some people have had to rebuild their gearboxes at circa 180,000kms!
What have others experienced with their cars as the miles/kms build up?

The only issue I'm having is the cruise control has stopped working (the red light on the switch still illuminates) combined with a message saying engine in fail safe mode. message goes away after restarting car but cruise just does not work still. Could it be the switch behind the brake pedal or wheel sensors? Also knocking noise from the rear suspension driving over uneven road is annoying and I'm sure shouldn't be there?

Great forum and I'm pleased to be a part of it!
