New Jag owner in Nashville

Hi Matt,
I specifically bought my 2010 XKR with a replacement motor because I was looking for a 5-liter XKR and the least expensive one I could find in the country was in my own backyard, so to speak, in Pasadena. It had however, 68000 miles on it. When I test drove it, I was completely underwhelmed and had decided not to buy it. The previous owner kept calling me and so even though I had no intention of buying it, I agreed to have him bring it to my mechanic so we could read codes. My mechanic after listening to the engine for about 30 seconds told both of us, the previous owner and I, that he could hear that the engine was about to throw a rod. The previous owner had purchased an aftermarket Insurance warranty policy, and he called them and they paid my mechanic to put a "new" engine in the car. We found an engine with 6000 miles on it, and then I bought the car. I now have 135000 + miles that have been relatively trouble free. And I have the original engine to use for parts should we ever need them. If you don't want that car for $21,000 let me know because I'm shopping for a car for my son. And by the way, after the new engine was installed, the response of the car was astounding. I bought it right after I drove it for the first time post motor transplant. Don't worry if you like the car and you've test-driven it.

Thanks guys!
I called the service manager today at the dealership that sold the car originally and he told me they installed a new OEM motor under warranty after the previous motor overheated.
So it's basically a 2011 with 12k miles, new water pump and housing as well.
If I don't buy it I'll pass it on to you guys, but it's not likely as I love it!

Congratulations on your decision to buy the Greatest car on the road today!
I was in Nashville last week for The Eclipse, and I have to say I felt a measure of pity for all the full time residents who had to deal with all of us Outlanders and Lookie Loos.
I was as glad to leave as you all were to see the end of all the Thousands of us.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
