Well I’ve taken the plunge and upgraded to Jaguar!

I’m based near Fareham in Hampshire, UK and after having a Triumph Stag followed by a Scimitar GTC I’ve pushed the boat out and bought a June 1993 registered XJS 4.0 Convertible in Flamenco Mica with Magnolia hide. 78,000 miles, oodles of history and she is a beauty!

Having wafted around over the weekend smiling contentedly for 150 miles I’ve gone to start her today and she cranks over but won’t fire as if an immobiliser has cut in. Both alarm fobs are present however neither seems to do anything. Does anyone know if the immobiliser is in the key itself or is there an immobiliser on the alarm system?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forums.

There is an immobiliser in those later cars. I have no idea on its workings.

The members in the XJS Tech Section, down the home page a tad will know.
Someone was discussing this recently.

Looks a good clean example.

Good luck.

Hello,
"Pushed the boat out." That's a new one on me.
Congratulations on your new RED XJS! If I ever own one it will be like yours, except in BLACK!
I'm sorry about the immobilizer situation, but hopefully members in our XJS section will know how to overcome it.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums K55XJS,

I often thought it would be cheaper to change my name by Deed Poll to match my number plate rather than buy a number plate to match my initials.

That looks a particularly fine example and a rare find in this country. I hope the starting difficulty is easily resolved.

I can see you've already found your way to the XJS forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
