Welcome to the forum Albi,

Congratulations on the XK8. Join the long list of new owners caught out by the unusual handbrake operation.

Sounds like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR section so no need for me to give you a link. Check the HOW TO section there https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ts-data-29800/ for useful information on known issues with the early XK8's.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Please also visit the Southern Midwest US Region section https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/southern-midwest-ar-la-ms-ky-tn-al-67/ to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

i did. we were on our way out for a weekend away when i realised the brakes were stuck on. i thought the handbrake was at fault so i un-adjusted the adjuster underneath the car, which released the shoes and allowed me to go on my journey i feel such a fool now!!!
