Unhappy Newbie

Hello Jag Enthusiasts

I've recently steered my wife toward the purchase of an '04 X-Type wagon. It appeared to have been very well maintained. It has everything she was hoping for: station wagon, heated seats, sunroof, automatic tranny (not my preference), and 4wd.

With it being a used vehicle I was very cautious about the purchase. We had a ppi done at a Jag specialist shop. The car had some typical issues for that mileage, 120,000 kms. The used car dealer was very good about taking care of those things at his expense. The last thing I wanted was to have been responsible for talking my wife into a lemon.

She loves the car. I am jealous. It's perfect for her.

But the problems have begun. It's the dreaded "Transmission Fault" error message.

We really love the car but this will turn into a nightmare if I can't find someone reliable to resolve this.

I'm popping over the the Tech forum now.

Keep your fingers crossed.

A.T.

Welcome to the forum A.T.,

Sorry to hear about the transmission issue.

Follow Steve's link to the X-Type section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Hope it's an easy fix.

Graham

Hey

Thank you all for the welcome.

Yes, the current issue is frustrating alright. The biggest challenge is finding a reliable mechanic. I did check out what ever threads I could find regarding the transmission. I jumped into one of the threads. It seams to be a common problem with the X-Type.

In any case we love the car and my gal feels really spiffy driving it. We'll figure it out.

How do I add our jag at the bottom of my posts?

Cheers

A.T.

1. click on the User CP button at the left of the top black menu bar (circled in red here)

2. under Settings & Options, click on Edit Signature (arrowed in red on the above screenshot)

3. enter Signature details in the dialogue box.

4. click on Save Signature button at the bottom

You can add a SigPic at the same time or later from the same place.

Note the size limits on SigPics.
