Newbie From Canada!
Hello all i stumbled on this forum and after seeing the electrical diagrams for the new jag i had to join.
my name is Tyler i am from london ontario i own a 2004 hyundai tiburon SE it is my daily driver/ track day fun car.
i am not a ricer in any way i prefer tastful subtle modifications that improve performance and drivability.
At heart i am a cadillac man and have always loved the classic vehicle Restored not jumping up and down or dragging their bumpers across the pavement.
i am an apprentice mechanic and love to work on cars, to me this is not a job its a career that i love!
anyways onto the jag,, so because of our current family situation my dad and myself had vehicles and my mom was sadly left out, so after some saving, myself and my dad were able to save up some cash and were originally wanting to buy a MGB or something similar. after some searching and disappointment of only finding rotten floors and rusted sills we found this garage beauty.
a 1986 Jaguar xj6 with a 4.2l v6 we found this beauty in a garage owned by a couple who bought it in Florida and drove it there frequently.
i was talking to the owner and learned some very interesting things about the car.
-head gasket was done 5000km ago
-the spark amplifier's internals were replaced with gm relay's and capacitors instead of oem parts
-the rear axle seals were converted to domestic seals so oem is not necessary.
The couple drove the car back and forth from Florida annually, the car was serviced by the owner or a mechanic in Florida, they have given me the name of the mechanic so if i ever need anything i can call him.
The car was garaged religiously and never winter driven.
the body is in absolutely amazing condition with absolutely no rust underneath it.
the work needed to get the car on the road as i know it is
-new windshield wipers
-currently the blower motor is not working ive been told it could possibly be a fuse.
as far as i know that is the only issue thus far. i will be picking the car up on the 30th so i will be more investigative once i get the car in my shop
Let me know what you think! and if you have any pointers feel free to let me know everything is much appreciated!
Thank you in advance
Tyler Smith
Have a good one!

A belated welcome Lukeman.
I already answered a post you made in the "Toronto area meets" section.
I had owned a few Jags before but an "87 XJ-6 was the first one that:
A-I purchased with intent to actually use.
B-Ran well and was new enough to not need work.
I also had a collection of late 70's and early '80's Cadillacs at the time so I revolved the cars daily, and the '87 XJ-6
turned out so good I sold all my caddy's and took up Jags exclusively.
(BTW, My '87 wasn't a true '87, it was really a left over '86 that they sold as an '87.
I sincerely hope your '86 gives you all the confidence and joy that mine did.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.
