Question Newbie Introduction

Hello All,
I have a XJ8 3.5 L called a 2005 model here in Australia, although the build date is late 2003. So I presume it is a 2004 model, and the chassis number confirms it. I joined the forum so as to keep up with problems and issues, so that I may at least deal with some of them myself. If not, at least it is wiser to know so one does not get the run around!
I guess I am not too old to learn, although major back surgery probably precludes many jobs being done myself!

Welcome to the forum gillja,

I've moved your Intro post from X351 for the 2009 onwards model to New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum. I hope the back surgery has been a success.

To explain the various dates - Australian regulations require the actual completion date to be stamped on the vehicle at the factory. This doesn't happen on UK vehicles and the US has a different system where the import date is used.

Jaguar Model Year traditionally began after the works holiday closure in August and this has continued even though the holiday closure has ceased! Your 2004MY is the specification but the vehicle would have actually come off the production line in late 2003.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...j6-xj8-xjr-28/ to the X350 forum for help, advice and information.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Australia /New Zealand Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...ew-zealand-51/
