Hey to all.

Well I joined for fun and to seek advice. I have been a long time European auto fan having owned/restored VWs, MGs, and more recently ground up TR3.

Well after lusting over an old friends XKE many years ago, I have run across one for sale and want to know what to look for in my initial view and drive. (Any of those things that are like "If you see xx run like hell") IF I get past that point I will take and post pics and seek out a more knowledgeable (perhaps paid) person to assist in evaluation.

So, it is a 73 v-12 2+2. pics and description make it a nice looker that runs out ok. What do I need to look for that would tell me not to consider it? Where does the rust hide? What is the huge gotcha expense on the mechanical side?

Thx in advance
Lugnuts (a story for another time)

Welcome to the forum lugnuts,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/e-type-xk-e-59/ to the E-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You will also find some very knowledgeable V12 owning members in the XJS tech forum. They will be able to advise/warn all about this wonderful but sometimes temperamental power unit.

You can also visit the USA Lower Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-lower-atlantic-nc-sc-fl-ga-66/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome.

Graham has linked you to the guru's, and the ones in YOUR market will be better armed than us from a very different market.
