Default Newbie From San Diego needs WHEEL ADVICE PLEASE!!

Hi everyone! I’m a lifetime Jag lover. Since learning to drive at 13 yrs old in my father’s XJ12, to our family owning just about every series; E-Type, XJ, Mark 11, S Type, and then the favorites I’ve owned; the X Type, Vander Plas, XKR and now the F Type! I still don’t know very much about the mechanics and I really do appreciate these forums. You people rock! You’re so helpful, courteous and funny!! I get made fun of very rarely for my inexperience and dumb questions. (:

MY CAT: 2016 F Type R. (GRRRrrr)

So help me with my wheels please. I have the silver Gyrodynes. I want the black gloss TORNADOES if possible! I would like a refurbished set. Any help on where to buy them is greatly appreciated or if someone wants to sell theirs…?? Are refurbished wheels safe? If there’s a repaired crack can it blow out?

What about after market brands? Is there one that is suited to my specs? It gets unnerving with so many brands. There’s a lot of snazzy looks, but which ones can I trust?

Can you show me some pictures of your wheels?

Also what are the best tires for sunny San Diego? Not much rainfall. Moderate to hot climate. Country roads. Lousy road surfaces. Lots of turns. I drive fast and push my car. She’s an AWD and I love the traction I’d probably loose it in a rear wheel drive. 😆

I’ve heard Pirelli PZeros or Michelin PS2s are best. Is one better than the other? Is there a good online discount tire store?
Can I swap out my sensors?

While I’m at it I might as well do some spacers. What’s the recommendation? I’ve read the debate between 10mm -13mm. What difference does it make? What must I be careful about? Best place to buy?

Sorry for the questions. I’ve read the forums, they can be confusing and conflicting opinions. I need some sound advice please. I want to understand what I’m doing and not just copy cat to be cool. I need a safe set up since I’m driving hard.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!!

Welcome to the forums Jireh777,

Good to have you with us.

I can see you've already found your way to the F-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. There's almost as many opinions on tyre and wheel combinations as there are owners! Once you short list the preferred design(s), decide on the wheel diameter (bigger wheels = harsher ride) and then consider avaialable tyre sizes. Of course, some owners go entirely the opposite way and work backwards from their preferred tyre to the wheels that it will mount on.

You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello,
Congratulations on your new F-type Jaguar!
No one here makes fun of anyone else's lack of knowledge. We all started out at the beginning once, someone had to teach us, even our Gurus had to learn from Square One once. We want you to enjoy your Jaguar experience as much as we do, not be sorry you ever got the car or darkened these forums.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
