Default E TYPE (super crummy!!) In San Diego.

Hi, Folks. I'm etypedood (Perry) in San Diego. I just got my first E Type ever. Bummer is that it's a 2+2 automatic. The not-a-bummer part is that I HAVE IT which is way better than a FHC 4-speed that I could not afford & thus never have. It's a '68 series 1.5 that was stored inside for over a decade. It's beat to hell. 3 layers of paint, caked in dust, cat tracks, & cobwebs. Rust is just some bubbly on the butt under the hatch. In a few days I will fire it up for the first time in years. Condition: It's better than a parts car but I don't think I'll be making Pebble Beach this year. Or ever.------Good to meet ya!

Sounds like a fun project. Hope you aren't too much money in that you can't afford to be more money in. I'm envious.

dood, even if it won't make any car show...ever, it'll still be admired by the general public once you get it running and get the exterior in shape. I'm curious to know if the body is in that bad of a condition, or will it just need the magic wand of a good detailer and replace a few shiny pieces? Good luck, either way!

Hi Perry welcome to the forum, if you want to enter it into a car show, bring it over here.

You will win the XKE category I'll guarantee it. (you'll be the only one in it).

Let's have some pics then!

Thanks for the welcome. The car has no current accident damage, But it was green originally, then burgundy, now faded silver. So who knows?! The rust seems to be limited to just a bubbly-bumpy (pretty bad) mess on the body just below the rear hatch. About two inches by four in area. Paint is faded/oxidized & was obviously a cheap job anyhow. Misc. little dings & scratches that the airplane guys call "hangar rash" The interior is pretty good. Back seat leather is nice but fronts redone in vinyl at some point. Today I fired her up with a shot of ether because the gas is just stanky. Vroom! She runs!
