Newbie saying hello
Hi Forum Members and Jaguar fans! New to the forum but not to Jaguars. Over the years I have owned several of these lovely cars, beginning in the 80s with an XJ6 4.2. After that I had a couple more XJ6s including one with the twin headlights of the 'oblong headlamps' era and they smaller engine (was it 3.2 or 3.6?). All lovely cars. I then progressed to a wonderful V12 XJS with the 5.3 litre engine and after that the 6 cylinder model as petrol consumption had become A Thing by then
My current car is a lovely 2008 model XKR with the 4.2 Supercharged engine. I came to this from a succession of Porsche 911s and I have to say I enjoy the XKR more. It has that perfect combination of space, comfort, easy driveability and, when required, earth-shattering performance. A wonderful all-round car that can be enjoyed for every kind of motoring on every kind of road.

Welcome to the forums Keith,
Good to have you with us. Enjoy the XKR - we're unlikely ever to see anything like it from Jaguar again.
I know you've already found your way to the X150 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.

Thanks again Graham. I will update my signature as you suggest. I agree with you that we are not likely to see anything from Jaguar in the future which will compare directly with the XKR - in my view, the F Type is an entirely different car, much more sports car than GT and far less spacious. While I appreciate the F Type for what it is, it is a shame, in my opinion, that Jaguar didn't develop an updated version of the XKR: there must be many, like myself, who have reached the stage in life where a GT is more relevant to their needs than an out-and-out sports car. Especially when that GT has the blistering performance of the XKR, combined with ***** cat nature when required.

I also have a Mitsubishi truck, which is quite the contrast to the Jaguar!I am now thinking about buying a 'runabout' and am gravitating towards an X Type. These seem to be unloved by many and they go for very attractive prices, with decent mileages, service histories and so on. I will be browsing the relevant Forum threads soon I think. Looking for a nice, well-maintained example with AWD because where I live it is quite hilly and isolated so AWD is attractive for the winter months. If I can find a good example at the right price it would be a very nice daily driver I think, and not too precious to leave parked at the train station and so on. We shall see....
