Phil here (Louisiana)
Sorry, totally forgot to introduce myself and have been posting!!
So, yes, I'm English, so I must own a jag! lol, been in USA 25 years, been a Cop 23 years,
Owned a sweet X type, but the paint began to peel off with this oven heat here in Louisiana, painter wanted $3K to paint the hood, roof and trunk, so I sold the car and put the money towards the XJ I just bought.
Flew upto Chicago on 9/11 and bought a close to mint 2011 XJ 5.0 from a Porsche dealership with 36K on it, drove it back to Louisiana, ordered all the waterpump stuff to get away from the low coolant horrors.
Been a biker since I was 14, just sold 8 motorcycles, I kept one, too many a$$holes on their phones driving and killing people, seen way way too many crashes in my job,
Anyway, nice to meet everyone in here.
Phil.

Welcome to the forums Phil,
Good to have you with us.
When I read you drove home, I thought that must be a huge distance but checking the map it looks to be under 900 miles. I'd relish an opportunity to see the country like that and it always amazes me when the majority of our American members have a car delivered if it's more than about 100 miles away.
I can see you've already found your way to the X351 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. You can also use the US Southern Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...rn-midwest-67/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.

The Police don't need to bother with cameras in England any more - the roads are covered with permanent speed and ANPR cameras. The A1(M) from Scotch Corner to Leeds has taken nearly ten years to upgrade with 50 mph average speed camera restrictions on it throughout. Very frustrating a Jaguar.

Hello, Phil,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
In my opinion the very Best way to get to know a Jaguar is exactly what you've done; drive it home several hundred miles rather than have some car hauler bring it to you. That way you get an idea of what the car will do on a relatively long term basis. And, as a Jaguar is the closest machine to a Living Being, the car will get to know you too, the two of you will begin to Bond.

I presume you would get leniency in other States from fellow officers?

I was picking with you about the camera's, I come home every other year (past 2 years no, covid) I totally know those camera's, money making racket, I got 2 tickets in Hull for 34 in 30, 36 in 30, they actually sent me the tickets and fines to USA (info from rental car company) ha!
Anyway, no speed camera's here so to say, a good few red light camera's (I agree with them) other than that, I drive a lot countryside away from ******** in the inner city.......
and long long roads.......... thx for the reply.. P
