Default Potential X-Type Owner from Washington State

Greetings!

I'm considering the purchase of a 2005 X-Type Sport with a manual transmission and all the options and I've been trying to learn all I can here on the forums. Great info - thanks!

Our local dealer took it in on trade for a new car and it's in great condition, save for the DSC and ABS lights being on. The dealer has replaced the battery and electronic control module, but the error lights are still on. I've driven the car twice now and love it and today I made them an offer contingent on them getting the problem fixed and they said they'll get their service dept to make it right on Monday.

Fingers crossed!

ragtop, welcome to the forums. Tell the shop to look at the rear wheel ABS sensors. odds are, the metal rings inside the bearing on one of the rear wheels is rusted through and in pieces. Common problem with the X-Type with those symptoms. Unfortunately (or fortunately for you), this requires a new hub assembly on that wheel.

As you can see, we know a little bit about these cars. Stop on by the X-Type forum and I am sure we can teach you a few other things about the car. I think you will find this place very helpful and a lot of fun to be at.

Enjoy.

Thanks for the warm welcome! And thanks for the tip on the rear wheel ABS sensors. After searching the forums yesterday, it seemed that tired batteries and/or bad battery cables are a common DSC problem and I forwarded those ideas onto the dealership and I'll definitely forward the rear wheel ABS sensor idea to them as well. The gentlemen here at the local Jaguar dealership (my salesperson Jerry and the sales manager Joseph) have both been very friendly and helpful and I'm optimistic they can get this handled and I'll be driving a new Jaguar soon!

Default Potential Owner Now a Proud Owner of an X-Type

Good Morning,

I posted an introduction a few days ago that I was considering the purchase of a 2005 X-Type with the 3.0, manual transmission, sport package, etc. pending the dealer fixing a couple problems. I'm happy to report the dealer got everything fixed and I bought the car!

I've been driving it the past couple days and I'm getting more impressed with it every time I get behind the wheel. :-) Jaguar definitely builds great cars as ours is nearly 7 years old with over 70,000 miles and it looks and runs nearly brand new. Wow! I posted a couple crummy smartphone pictures and hope to take more soon.

And if anyone is looking for Jaguar sales or service in the Spokane, Washington area, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the local Jaguar dealer - Lyle Pearson - they've been good to me so far.

Have a good weekend all!

Brandon

Well darn if the honeymoon with the dealer isn't over already. It turns out the car has a leaky AC compressor and a bent rim, so I contacted the dealer to see if they could offer any help as I only bought the car a few days ago. Unfortunately, they couldn't offer any assistance as part of the deal, but they did refer me to their service department. Funny how helpful dealers are when your in the process of buying a car, but they can hardly remember your name once the deal is closed. Oh well, I'm still loving my new X-Type and fixing these new issues will just give me some more opportunities to bond with the car. :-)
