Welcome Ron.

I will add you to the SO roll call in a few minutes.

Your XJ40 behaviour is odd at best.

I have no immediate answer, but the XJ40 guru's in the XJ40 Tech Section, just down the page a bit, will have the answers.

I do remember the daughters early (1987) XJ40 did similar a few times, and she simply "locked and unlocked" the car, and all was fine. Never found why it happened.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forum Ron,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

That's a weird one. Did you temporarily refit the original battery again as a check?

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj40-xj81-25/ to the XJ40 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Australia - South/NT Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...a-south-nt-95/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
